Air Conditioning and Cooling
During the hot summer months, up to 70% of your electricity bill will be from your air conditioner. As your air conditioner gets older, it may not cool your house as efficiently, which will cost you more every month on your energy bills. The current minimum standard for air conditioners is 13 SEER. Furthermore, federal guidelines will require all new systems starting in 2010 to use environmentally friendly refrigerants, specifically R410A. Upgrading to a new, high SEER, environmentally friendly air conditioner will not only save you money long term but will also reduce the impact to the environment.
Heating Systems
There are many options for new heating equipment. We recommend many of the top brand names in the industry and all of the new systems we install have received the Energy Star rating for high efficiency. This does not mean that you need to purchase the top of the line products in order to receive a return on your investment over the years of operation.
Air Conditioner - Repair or Replace
There have been so many advances in the manufacturing of air conditioners just in the last 10 years specifically related improved energy efficiency (SEER rating). But, how do you know whether you simply need to repair an air conditioning problem or if it is time to replace the air conditioning system with a newer hi-efficiency one?
For most, this is a difficult question. If your air conditioning system is still operating you are probably just looking to repair it or enhance it to make it last longer at a greater efficiency level. However, if your air conditioner is more than 15 years old, it was not designed with the same standards that they require today as it relates to energy efficiency. For example, an older gas furnace could waste up to 45% of the heat it generates, but a today’s furnaces can operate at as much as 97% Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (A.F.U.E.). This means instant cost savings in the operation of the air conditioning or heating system.
Our professionally trained ac technicians will show you how well your air conditioning system is performing and help you understand your options. With this knowledge you can have greater peace mind with your final decision.
